Richard Edlin is an Associate Professor in Health Economics in the School of Population Health at the University of Auckland. He holds a PhD in health economics from the University of Sheffield and is lead author of the textbook Cost Effectiveness Modelling for Health Technology Assessment: A Practical Course. His research centres on getting value for money from health systems, spanning economic evaluation, cost-effectiveness modelling, and health-related quality of life.

As AHEN Treasurer, Richard looks after the network's finances and supports its mission of connecting health economists across Aotearoa.

Leo completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health (DPH), after finishing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Otago.

As AHEN secretary, he hopes to support collaboration and professional development within the New Zealand health economics community.

Leo is currently a Value and Access Manager at AbbVie New Zealand working across health technology assessment, health economics and market access. Prior to joining AbbVie, he spent five years as Health Economist at Pharmac contributing to funding decisions and improved health outcomes across a broad range of therapeutic areas.

Dan Li is the student representative for AHEN and a PhD candidate at the University of Otago.

Dan completed a bachelor's degree in clinical pharmacy at China Pharmaceutical University and a master's degree in pharmacy at the University of Calabria in Italy. She subsequently joined the Clinical Pharmacy Department at Inner Mongolia Medical University as a senior lecturer before beginning her PhD at the University of Otago. Her research focuses on clinical big-data analysis and the health technology assessment of novel medicines, including cost-effectiveness analysis, health economic modelling, methodological assessment, and the development of automated analytical tools.

As AHEN's student representative, Dan hopes to strengthen connections among students and emerging health economists and facilitate research and project collaboration between China and New Zealand.

William Leung, MSc (Health Econ) MSc (Op Res) MSc (Comp Sci), is a senior lecturer in health economics at the University of Otago, Wellington, and consulting health economist at the Dunedin School of Medicine. Prior to receiving his master's degree at York, he worked in the UK NHS and other government agencies as an analyst. Recent projects have included an economic evaluation funded by US CDC and an operational research study with MfE.

Tal Sharrock-Crimp is a Principal Advisor at Te Aho o Te Kahu – the Cancer Control Agency. Tal previously worked as a Senior Health Economist and Team Leader at Pharmac, and as a Senior Economist at the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER). In 2018, Tal completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Otago, with a health economics-focused thesis, building on earlier studies in physiology and public health.

Tal is passionate about using health economics to inform better healthcare decision-making and resourcing. As an AHEN Committee member, Tal looks forward to fostering connections across the health economics community and learning from the diverse experiences and expertise of fellow members.

Pasquale is a B.Pharm graduate of the Otago University School of Pharmacy and an MSc graduate from Auckland University. He spent nearly 3 years as a Science Advisor at Medsafe, the NZ regulatory authority, before joining Janssen Cilag in 1999. During his 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry, he has held functional responsibility for many departments including Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, Business Development and Market Access. Pasquale is currently the Associate Medical Director for Pfizer in NZ.

Ross Wilson [BCom(Hons), PhD] is a research fellow at the Centre for Musculoskeletal Outcomes Research, University of Otago. His research interests are in the valuation of health-related quality of life (HRQoL), economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, and simulation modelling of disease epidemiology and treatment to inform health care policy.

Abbas Al-Murrani is a health economics consultant based in New Zealand, working with pharmaceutical and medical device companies on economic evaluation, modelling, and HTA submissions. As an AHEN Committee member, Abbas is focused on building the network's digital presence and connecting health economists across the motu.
